Why Join?

Since 1998, the Kwakwaduam Association has been the fulcrum of Akropong traditions in New York, offering members the opportunity to meet, socialise and engage in discourse on the issues that matter to them. Membership of the Kwakwaduam Association is open to all who value the promotion of education and the welfare of the family from the cultural perspective of Akropong and Akuapem State.

Discuss the issues that matter

On the first Saturday of every month, the Association hosts a general meeting to inform members of matters pertinent to their lives in New York, affording members the opportunity to contribute their opinions to kindred voices in order to determine the best responses to those issues for themselves, the Association and society. Discussions are often peppy and topics have ranged from funerals of kings to the well-being of indigents.

Hear the people who matter

The Association welcomes leading lights from the avenues of life the members tread to speak to members and answer their questions. Members have had the opportunity over the years to hear from experts in many disciplines including law, medicine, education, insurance, banking, travel, shipping and real estate. We have also hosted the Krontihene of Akropong and a number of wing chiefs of Akuapem State.

Enjoy a vibrant social calendar

The Association hosts an annual fundraising gala that is very popular with members and the public. We also organize quarterly social events that are always well-patronized by members and their guests. We fete our women on Mothers' Day and throw a stupendous Family Party in December for members' families. Our summer picnic is held in collaboration with other Ghanaian associations and churches and is always attended by people from all over the United States.
